HEALTH & WELLNESS COACHING
Coaching at Fostering Wellness blends the models of traditional Health and Wellness Coaching and Nurse Coaching. These coaching practices also incorporate functional nutrition practices and are guided by themes in yogic philosophy which aim to integrate mind, body, and spirit. I collaborate with clients to create a dynamic, individualized, holistic coaching partnerships with each client. Each individual client is the expert in their health and wellness journey and I respectfully provide agency to each individual, so that clients are the true agent of change.
As a medical professional, nationally board certified health & wellness nurse coach, and yoga teacher, I offer a unique variety of services to clients bridging Eastern and Western philosophies of healing and health. My decades long yoga practice along with my personal meditation practices, have taught me how to really listen deeply and tune into the body. They’ve taught me how to honor the messages the body is giving. This innate knowing is within all of us. My passion for health care, respect for individualized wellness autonomy, graduate level education, and professional nursing experiences have all prepared me to cultivate my business, my dream, of bringing a NEW care model to people seeking to feel better, optimize health, or just navigate the often-confusing world of wellness. Nurse provided Health and Wellness Coaching (AKA Nurse Coaching) can focus on any area of health and well-being. Some examples might include chronic disease management, stress management, nutrition, weight loss, exploration and cultivation of spiritual practices, improving sleep hygiene, increasing activity safely and creating a healing home environments.
I am a member of the American Holistic Nursing Association and I use their guidance throughout my nurse coaching practice. What is a holistic nurse? “Holistic nurses nurture wholeness, peace and healing by valuing each person's physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and environmental strengths and challenges and honoring each person’s values, health beliefs and health experience. The condition of the whole person is taken into account during the nurse's assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation of the results” (American Holistic Nurses Association).

NURSE COACHING

Nurse coaching is a skilled, purposeful, results-oriented and structured client interaction that is provided by Registered Nurses for the purpose of promoting achievement of client goals. (Dossey, Hess, et. al, 2013). Nurse coaches work with the whole person using principles and modalities that integrate body-mind-emotion-spirit-environment to promote health, wellness, and well-being while they facilitate their client’s growth and healing. Nurse coaches are supportive and encouraging, building on the client’s strengths rather than attempting to correct weaknesses. Nurse coaches provide guidance and resources to the client who is the expert on their own needs and choices. *
Nurse Coaches partner with clients who are seeking self-directed changes, promote client health and well-being, display a belief in the client’s capacity for change, honor the client as an expert on his or her life and ensure that all coaching interactions are respectful and non-judgmental
Coaching at Fostering Wellness blends the models of Health, Wellness, and Nurse Coaching. My coaching practice also incorporates Functional Nutrition practices and is guided by the main philosophy of yoga which is quite simple: mind, body, and spirit are all one and cannot be separated. I aim to create a dynamic, individualized, holistic coaching partnership with each client. Each individual client is the expert in their health and wellness journey and I respectfully provide agency to each individual, so that clients are the true agent of change.
I believe deeply that FOOD IS MEDICINE, and we can impact the trajectory of our health with what we put at the end of our forks. In combination with the above, coaching at Fostering Wellness takes a 5-pillar approach to health and Wellness, honoring that each pillar holds equal weight in affecting one’s health and wellness. These pillars include; environmental health, physical health, mental health, emotional health, and spiritual health.
Clients determine which pillars to prioritize and set goals in, based on their individual needs and desires. Clients are invited to set SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-based) within 5-pillars of Health and Wellness, and together a plan is put into place for reaching these milestones!

YOGA
Fostering Wellness partners with Inspiring Actions Yoga Studio (https://inspiringactions.com/ ) where I teach yoga classes regulary as a contractor and offer various specialty classes and workshops .
I aim to cultivate and teach a yoga practice that honors the roots of Yoga, a practice that recognizes and respects that fact that what I practice and teach is not my own. It is a beautiful gift, a guide for life that is much more than the physical practice (Asana). Yoga has come to the west across thousands of years, thousands of miles, and come from thousands of teachers begining in ancient India and Northen Africa. I am deeply grateful for these teachings. Western cultural appropriation of Yoga is something I am actively exploring and working to minimize in my own practice.
I enjoy physically practicing (Asana) and teaching Gentle and Mixed Level Yoga Classes, particularly vinyasa style or a more flowing Yoga class that links breath to movement. Yoga philosophy and the physical practice of yoga are incredible tools that can be utilized to support and optimize any of the 5-Pillars of Health and Wellness.
